Hamel, IL Constitution Bank joined community leaders, residents, and supporters this past weekend to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Hamel Heroes Park, marking the completion of a community project designed to honor local heroes while creating a welcoming gathering place for families of all abilities.

Hamel Mayor Justin Gerstner emphasized the importance of community partnerships in bringing the park from an idea to a completed community space.

Constitution Bank contributed $22,000 to the project, funding the Constitution Bank Pavilion along with important accessibility enhancements, including an accessible changing table and accessibility swing. With the park now complete and open to the community, these additions will help ensure more individuals and families can fully enjoy the space.

“Hamel Heroes Park represents the heart of this community; service, pride, and togetherness,” said Misty Borrowman, President and CEO of Constitution Bank. “We are honored to have supported the construction of the pavilion and the accessibility improvements that will allow more families to fully enjoy this space. This is exactly the kind of local investment we believe in as an independent community bank.”

“This commitment from Constitution Bank allowed us to move forward with both the pavilion and meaningful accessibility upgrades,” said Gerstner. “Hamel Heroes Park was designed to honor not only our veterans, military members, and first responders, but also the everyday heroes in our community; our teachers, farmers, healthcare workers, and blue-collar workers who step up with courage when their community needs them. This partnership helped ensure the park reflects that message and remains a place that truly serves everyone.”

Hamel Heroes Park now serves as both a tribute to those who serve their community and a place for residents and families to gather, play, and spend time together. The Constitution Bank Pavilion provides a central gathering space within the park, while the accessibility-focused amenities help further the park’s goal of creating a space that can be enjoyed by everyone.

The completed park reflects the strength of local partnerships and the lasting impact that can be made when businesses, community leaders, organizations, and residents work together toward a shared goal.
